“An Editor, an Industrialist, and Three Politicians: Five Wheeling Men and Their Pre-Civil War Efforts.”   This talk will focus on the pre-war activities of editor Archibald Campbell, industrialist Edward M. Norton, and politicians Alfred Caldwell, Sherrard Clemens, and Chester Hubbard. All played vital roles leading up to the war and were staunch supporters of the Union and opposed Virginia’s secession. The “rest of the story” highlights the different paths that their lives took during and after the war.
